"Discovering Europe" Ausstellungseröffnung  
 

 

Exhibition on the EU-Enlargement: „Discovering Europe“ from the 4th until 13th of May 2004 in the “Ehrenhalle” of the City Hall in Nürnberg.


In order to promote the EU-Enlargement which took place on the first of May 2004, the Europa-Büro and Europäisches Informationszentrum Nürnberg, which are part of the Department for Economic Affairs of the City of Nürnberg, launched an Exhibition “Discovering Europe”. From the 5th until the 13th of May the citizens of Nürnberg had the chance to view the Exhibition in one of the most beautiful halls “the Ehrenhalle” of the City. Next to viewing the panels of the Exhibition “Discovering Europe”, the visitors had the possibility to learn more about the EU-Enlargement by searching the Web and watching documentary-films about the new Member States. The visitors could choose from a great variety of brochures on many different EU-topics.
Beforehand the Europa-Büro sent invitations to the schools in Nürnberg to announce the Exhibition. A guided-tour through the Exhibition was offered by one of the experts of the Europabüro of the City of Nürnberg, which was welcomed with great interest.
About 280 invited guests from Northern Bavaria attended the grand opening of the Exhibition on the 4th of May 2004 at the “Historischer Rathaussaal” at the City Hall in Nürnberg. The honorific speeches were held by the Mayor of Nürnberg, Dr. Ulrich Maly, the Deputy Mayor in charge of Economic Affairs, Dr. Roland Fleck, the Hungarian Consul General from Munich, Maria Baranyi, the Hungarian Candidate for the forthcoming election for European Parliament, Dr. Alexandra Dobolyi, as well as Paul-Joachim Kubosch, Director of the Representation of the European Commission in Munich. After the opening speeches the Europa-Büro Nürnberg welcomed the guests with a variety of Hungarian specialities.
The general public but above all the school classes were keenly interested in the Exhibition and in learning more about the neighbouring countries of Germany which are now part of the European Union.

Bei der Eröffnung wurden die Auswirkungen und Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten der EU-Integration mit einem Schwerpunkt auf wirtschafts- und verkehrsorientierten Fachvorträgen erörtert:
